CATS transports sick children from over 50 different district general hospitals in North Thames, Essex, Herts, Beds and East Anglia. To help referring hospital staff maintain competencies in the management of the critically ill child and stabilisation while waiting for the transport team we run a regular outreach education program. The outreach program also facilitates effective communication between the teams and provides a forum for clinical discussion and feedback

Outreach sessions may take different forms:

  • Case discussions
  • Face to face lectures
  • Workshops
  • Hands-on practical skill sessions
  • Simulated scenarios
  • Videoconferencing

Sessions are open to all staff. We actively encourage multi-disciplinary attendance, and engagement from anaesthetists, emergency medicine specialists and adult intensivists as well as the paediatric team.

Please contact the designated CATS link consultant and/or nurse for your hospital if you wish to arrange an outreach session, or email queries@cats.nhs.uk
